With a population of 5.6 million the Greater Toronto Area is the largest metropolitan area in Canada. In addition to Metropolitan Toronto the Greater Toronto Area consists of four regions, each of which contain several cities. Within these regions one can find virtually any service or cultural attraction imaginable. This includes anything from wedding catering in Toronto to pet grooming in York. The four regions that make up the Greater Toronto Area are Durham, Halton, Peel, and York.

The Regional Municipality of Durham has six townships and two cities. The townships are Scugog, Brock, Uxbridge, Clarington, Whitby, and Ajax; the cities are Pickering and Oshawa. Within these cities and townships are a wealth of things to see and discover. Durham is an excellent place for a relaxing weekend getaway, here you can find bed and breakfasts that rival a B & B in downtown Toronto. Many people visit Durham and visit the townships for a wonderful weekend mini vacation.

The Regional Municipality of Peel consists of the town Caledon as well as the cities Brampton and Mississauga. Peel offers a great option to people who want the convenience of being located close to the big city of Toronto but who would rather not live directly in Toronto. Many people choose to purchase a condo in Mississauga and visit Toronto periodically, or even live in Peel and commute into the city each day to work. Peel has a lot to see and to do and is an excellent destination or potential home for anyone who enjoys browsing a multitude of historical attractions while still being close to Toronto.

The Regional Municipality of Halton consists of one city, Burlington, and three townships, Halton Hills, Oakville, and Milton. Many people who work at a graphic design firm in Toronto choose to escape the bustle of the city by living in or visiting Halton. In the fall Halton is a particularly lively area to visit as the leaves change colour and the region becomes a riot of oranges, reds, and yellows. Fall visits to Halton are a popular pastime for many people who live within the city of Toronto and who wish to experience a bit of nature from time to time.

The Regional Municipality of York is made up of the city of Vaughn and eight towns. The towns of York are: Whitchurch-Stouffville, New Market, Richmond Hill, Markham, King, Aurora, East Gwilimbury, and Georgina. If you don't enjoy using your patio furniture in Toronto because you long for the privacy offered by a smaller city or town then a move to the York region might be right for you. With eight towns to choose from many people find a town in York that is a good fit.
